FIRST TIME BEING USER OF THE DAY

HOLY CRAP, I've been making stuff on newgrounds since about late 2011 and today is the first time I've been made User of the day and I'm really really grateful to anyone who's taken the time to listen to the amateur music I write or check out my art that's been getting better over time.

Pixel Art has become my favorite artform and Newgrounds has always been the best place for me to share it and I'm grateful that this website exists. The people running it are genuine and they want to help people grow with whatever they create, feature them and give them more visibility when all other platforms are falling apart. I hope some day when I'm in a better place I can give back to Newgrounds. Thank you.


PLANS FOR 2024

This year I've set myself a goal to create at least one bigger pixel art piece each week, and I've already made the first one! If I miss a week then I'll have to do two pieces. Hopefully I can keep up this level of quality or get even better and be more consistent. Here's also a process gif of my Morrigan pixel art!

Aside from art I'm also working on myself IRL and I feel I'm in a much better place than I was a few years back. I hope everyone has a productive, healthy and happy 2024! Thank you for the support!

Hey guys, I recorded a new cover over the past 2 days. I'm mostly happy with it, the vocals could be a bit better. It's also my first time making a more proper cover with all instruments (aside from drums) recorded, first time editing a video like this too.



Hope you still like it despite it's shortcomings.

Here's another cover, of a song I've wanted to do for a few years now. I used a portable mic behind my phone, instead of relying on the phone's microphone, so hopefully the quality is better this time around.

Excited to show off the the Weekly Game Jam entry I've been working on the past few days!

This was my first game jam and my first time collabing with other people on a project and I'm really happy with how much we we're able to accomplish in just 6 days. SpiRiTs and Madeleine are both really talented in their field and I'd recommend giving them a follow.


Madeleine composed a really sick theme for the title screen as well as ambient music for the levels and sound effects.


Eduardo really spent a lot of time working his programming wizardry to make this game playable in time for the game jam deadline and he's the real MVP here.


I hope to get back to putting out art more regularly now that this project is done.

I wanted to make a little update on what I've been up to and what my plans are. I've decided to move my unity project I made a post about last time from a topdown view to a 2d platformer. I have some early animation and tileset previews to show for that:

I figured that for my first game it'd probably be easier to start with a platformer than an rpg, luckily the character sprites from my mockups work for top down and 2d views.


Aside from that I've been feeling a bit burnt out on making art, I've been mostly consistent in putting stuff out since about july/august but at times it feels like I'm forcing it and that results in rushed/not so creative things. So I think I'll try to put stuff out less frequently but have it be higher quality (that's the plan atleast).


I also want to get back to writing music sometime soon but I haven't had any inspiration for that yet, maybe I'll get a surge of inspiration once I get deeper into my unity project.

I said a while ago I would share some screenshots of a untitled unity project I started a while back so that's what this will be, if you're not interested feel free to ignore this post.

This here is just a test area, much like the rest of the assets in the next few screenshots, it was just to test interactable objects, collisions, movement and the enemy/health system.


The collisions aren't perfect, I ran into some problems like not being able to walk behind trees despite looking for fixes, implementing them exactly as explained only for them not to work. Tileset is also a lot worse compared to the stuff I make now. But regardless I had fun putting this together just to see all my different elements come together into one "playable" thing.

Another screenshot showing the area north, and the text that pops up when you transition between areas, not much to see here. One of the reasons I've abandoned this project is that the video series I was following along to would fix stuff off screen and sometimes I'd be able to fix it myself, other times I wouldn't and it'd be kinda frustrating.

These last 2 screenshots are just to show the lives actually do work, and to show off some of the in-game sprites for the NPC designs I had planned. Some of these you might recognize from my RPG characters thing I made for Pixel Day.



That's basicly all of it, it's very barebones but I wanted to share it regardless to not let it go to waste. I'll also include the animations I used for the main character and the slime (+ a few bonus anims) here.


I may come back to this project and restart it in a new artstyle, maybe swap to godot or some other game engine that's more nub friendly. If you know of any good game engines that aren't too limited and easy to get into feel free to let me know in the comments.
